Sigh! "Sessions start with as little as one-minute blocks of running with walking breaks, and build up the running time until you can run 5K continuously." WRONG!

And as there are 27 runs in the C25K programme, 6.46 million runs equates to about 230,000 actual runners (rounding down as some people repeat runs, and many will not complete the programme). Not to be sniffed at, but not what the headline implies.

That's poor journalism by Runner's World, and it's not even down to the original news release (gov.uk/government/news/mill... )

To any forum newbies reading this: the NHS C25K programme does not require you to run 5k to complete the programme!

What's depressing is the sentence in the press release:

860,000 people used the app to do at least one run between 1 January and 29 December 2022.

Given the back-of-the-envelope numbers I scribbled down above, that's a huge difference between those who start and those who persist through to graduation.

Oh I agree, but hopefully that news release figure's actually a fact! The article sub-header though is outrageous.

I noticed there were many American C25Ks out there on the internet, each one purporting to be the best, with the best coach etc. I remember feeling quite bamboozled by them all when I first decided to try running. Which one should I use? Thank goodness I found the NHS C25K programme among them and selected that. It works!

I bet they were practically the same as each other anyway!

I'am not sure if you know MissUnderstanding that when I originally did C25K from 18th April 2018, run 1 of week 1 to my graduation run on the 18th June, two months later I did all the runs from memory because at that time my old Smartphone hadn't enough memory for the C25K app, I memorised them all from my laptop before I started each run just using the timer on my phone, the only week I got wrong was week 3 when I ran a extra 5 minutes.

I didn’t know that! I’m impressed-I could only just about focus on keeping myself upright without thinking about how long I was supposed to be running for as well!

The "best" is the UK, NHS version or the BBC one, there isn't all that much difference between them all.

AlMorr, that is an impressive feat! You should have been given extra gold stars🌟 on graduation.
