…another turn around Cwmbran Boating Lake for Tim’s Run…🏃🏻‍♀️🐌💕

Last Tuesday I reached W3 of the NRC10k plan…it was “Just a Run”, a recovery run with Coach Bennett…and as he waxed lyrical (as he does!) about slow and easy running, and enjoying the run you’re doing…it put me immediately in mind of our recently departed Tim and so I chose to repeat it again today in his memory.

I started C25k in August 2020…so have only ‘known’ Tim for just over 2 years, but quickly noticed how he was always present…welcoming new beginners, congratulating graduates…and reminding everyone to slow down! The FAQs are so useful…even now I dip into them to check on stuff!

After a gentle admonishment to me over the use of a certain word about a particularly “challenging” run in C25k…he emphasised how important it was to consider the whole readership of a post, and to remember that people have different levels of confidence in their abilities. He said how he would reread and reconsider every post and response before he pressed the reply button…that’s how kind and thoughtful he was.

…so to my run…nothing special, a 30 minute recovery run at an easy pace. For new graduates consolidating their 30 minute runs, I can recommend this Nike Run Club guided run by Coach Bennett…the emphasis is on *your* effort, it should feel *easy*…and indeed SLOW! There’s a lot of sense talked about how we are all different in our pace and effort, but we should enjoy the run and finish a better person. CB told us to smile…and he even repeated Tim’s favourite mantra…“keep running, keep smiling”…

So slow and steady around the Boating Lake with Pink Floyd in the background…perfect. I chose here because it was where I went for walks before I started running. It was a typical Sunday morning with dog walkers, families feeding the ducks and geese, and watching the Cwmbran Modelling Society sail their boats ⛵️⛵️⛵️

So I ran, and I smiled despite the gloomy weather, for the sheer joy of just being out there.

Thank you Tim… 💕💕💕

I know you didn’t speak emoji, but anyway…

Decided on a photo of Canadian Geese at the Lake as Tim had said their humerous honks always made him smile 😊😊😊
