Seems I'm doing couch to 3k instead ,,😁

Did my week 8 jog today and set my Fitbit to track after the 5 min walk and I just hit 3k at the 28 min mark

So my 5k time is likely over 50 mins

I'm quite chuffed knowing how far I've come but thinking past week 9 what's the best way to get to the 5k mark ?

Well done with your progress!

As I'm sure you know , distance is irrelevant on this program as it is time based .

After you graduate you would be advised to spend a few weeks consolidating on the 30 minutes runs until they have become comfortable before pushing on with distance or pace.

Then when you start to extend, take your time , extending you distance gradually.

You may find this useful.

Happy running!

I graduated over a year ago and it still takes me 45 minutes to run 5k. I fretted about it for a while but now I just accept it. Some days I run for 30 minutes. Some days I run for 45 minutes.

Hi Ardenk , do check out the advice and link posted by Instructor57 .

C25K can give you the impression that 5k in 30 minutes is the one and only goal. That's definitely not the case, not least because we're all different and run in a variety of contexts. I can run much faster on flat tarmac than I can on a hilly forest trail, but I'd rather do the latter.

There's a huge variety of running possibilities out there for you after completing and consolidating C25K. Take the time to explore them, and have fun!

The phrase C25k is a bit misleading as it's really 'couch to 30 mins'. Whatever your distance at that point is irrelevant, the important thing is running consistantly for 30 minutes which is a terrific acheivment. πŸ˜πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸƒπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Congratulations on getting making it to week 8, Ardenk ! The program ought to really be called C230M 🀣 but maybe that would be too confusing? πŸ™ƒ

I graduated October 1st - and am still doing consolidation runs as I am so much enjoying just running. At first, I was chafing at "having to" do them because "no more progress" or whatever my mind was telling myself. Now, it's a 30 minute run through the gorgeous fall landscape. As far as I know, I am still not getting to 5K - and that's no longer a goal. I suspect I'll get there eventually as I seem to be getting faster naturally. For now, I am just enjoying being able to run 30 minutes straight 😊

That's a very good par on a difficult hole to mix metaphors! You will gain pace if you keep putting the time in. On completing my aim was to increase time to get to the 5k distance and was aiming for 50 minutes based on C25K. But by the time I had consolidated my 30 minute runs and increased time it dropped to 45 minutes. 8 months on from starting it's now just under 38 minutes. All following the C25K mantras no pain, slow is good, conversation pace etc.
