Return to C25K after Achilles Injury

Having reached Week 8 Run 3, I managed to damage my Achilles’ tendon! Absolutely gutted! However 3 and a bit weeks of rest and things are getting better. I may try a gentle jog later this week, but am wondering where to start? Should I go right back and start again or would it be ok to restart week 8? I’ve been cycling to keep my fitness going and I’m sure this has helped my injury. I would be interested to hear people’s thoughts, particularly if you’ve been through something similar.

All you can do is head out, for a little jogette... slow and steady and see how it all feels...I ruptured my Achilles some years ago and after the last plaster came off, I chose not to have surgery, it was a while before I regained the strength in it..Just listen to your body,,, and maybe head back a couple of weeks to just build back :)

Hi ThePostmistress , Oldfloss is right, just try a gentle jog and see how you get on. From what you say I doubt you'd need to go back to the start of C25K, but restarting with week 8 is probably a bit much.

For context, I sprained my knee when I fell during a run two months ago, and had to take two weeks off. It wasn't a problem of aerobic fitness, it was not being able to move my leg properly - took me a week to be able to go for a walk. It's only now that I'm starting to build back to where I was.

So give it a go, do as much as you can, just don't overdo it. Hope things go well for you.
