I am late opening the corner this week ! I have been busy here there and everywhere but finally made it to the cushions! I have slipped off my shoes and would remind you ,that I am of course, an Old Snail.
Now... we have so many Newbies joining us at this moment in time... and LOADS of folks heading back here ready for a repeat too, so I am reposting some details about who, what and where, the Catch-Up Corner is all about!
This is a very hard thing for me to do, as I had a really great ramble all prepared BUT.... I will forgo that for now!!
Okay... for those of you who have a regular cushion spot here.... I apologise that you have heard this before...but fear not... I shall ramble elsewhere!
For our new friends...
I have been around the C25K forum for ages and we used to, always have a, Weekly Chat, or a What's your week, post. It was great. I knew many, many folk by name and was able to follow and watch the progress!
Folk , who did not want to, or have time to, write a long post, could pop in and just chat to each other. It was a place to talk about your running, your successes and your set backs. Just a relaxed line or two, to see where we all were and where we might be going. I relied on those chats when I started Couch to 5K nearly seven years ago. The chats were a place where we felt we were not alone, that there were others out there who were feeling just the same as ourselves with our running.
Well, a while back we were desperately short of our volunteer Admin team members and with all our other duties, some posts had to go and these chats were included. We lost our meeting place.
( All back on track now)!
As I have popped in here, I have felt for a while, that we needed 'Something' back here on Couch again. We need to chat, we need to share and we need somewhere to do it.
SO... I began this as a trial run last Winter and... wow!!! It has taken off...so many folk visiting and sharing! The number of folk on the forum is still increasing, and although it is still. increasingly tricky to keep up with everyone's progress, it is great to have a little, fun post, so we can see who is where and how it is going!
We can Support, Encourage and generally Help each other, in a positive and friendly way, with no thought of comparison. We can have a little moan and we can pass on our ideas too.
You can chat here, wherever you are; just beginning, in the middle, or nearly at the finish line of the C25K. You can chat here, even if you have Graduated, and are repeating bits of or all of C25K again!
I post Catch up Corner, each week , (sometimes arriving a little late) , I give ideas and links here and there, ( and maybe popping on some of my famous ( infamous??) rambling and rhymes!
YOU can add things all through the week and I will be here....
So please, please, do think about joining in the fun...slip off your running shoes, relax, and just let us know how it is going?
Looking forward to hearing from our regular crowd and to seeing some new faces....

Dear OF! Update: I'm dragging along in the heat of the summer trying to keep my spirits up. More than ever, it is important that I get back on track with my running to that end; I'm doing the c25k+ series intermittent with some Nike. I'm also resuming and doing my weight exercises. Molly has increased in size by a factor of two; my husband calls her the "little dog." I noticed when I had her outside that I had been smiling for about 15 minutes straight--good thing.... and then I happened to have my back turned and my son said she took a FLYING leap at my back. Being a "little dog" I was shocked but am okay!
This is good news...apart from your heat!Repeating bits of all of Couch, is a good way to get on track again and I know, that like you, I will be using it and some short come back runs from NRC.
Your little dog clearly is not so small!
They grow so rapidly ,. small runner in training's puppy is growing very fast , but luckily her training is going well and they are already firm friends,
Glad that she did not knock you over !
Keep up with that running and stay cool.my friend! x
Curiosity: what kind of dog is small runner in training's dog? (Unfortunately, I am not running due to thunderstorms and bad heat at the moment. Helpful son is urging me to use a treadmill, but I hate that thing.)
TMs have their uses... give it a try,,, earphones and a good story! Or a You tune of a virtual run on your phone... Old mans Cave run... it is snowy!!!Small runner in training has a lovely Labrador.. intelligent and faithful and gentle too!
Wow! I watched the first couple min of that cave run! Super to watch right now!!! (But I just came in from an "easy" 25 min run with CB--I say "easy" because it was hard--bad pollution near us today, MUGGY, and HOT!) THANK YOU for sending that "cold" clip. I'd like to try that some time and look forward to it. Labs are great. Our last dog was a lab, but he had lots of problems: we got him as a rescue, but he had allergies so recoiled from human touch and would have lost all his hair but for our monthly purchase of expensive meds to keep it all on--AND he got cancer of the foot (from which he recovered and lived to age 11....)
I thought I’d pop in here to say hi, I love what you do here Oldfloss to support runners in this great community. Having somewhere to chat about running or just read what everyone is doing has kept me going through times when I might have stoppped running. encouragement goes a long way for so many people
Thank you so much for dropping in... it is always good for folk to know, when they are just beginning, that there is somewhere to just relax and share. We all need the support and friendship of fellow runners, whatever level we are on, and like you, I have kept going sometimes simply due to that support !
There is a cushion ( or two) for you whenever you wish to call in
Mum22boys Elfe5 Tbae Greenthorn grumpyoldgirl M0use Chinkoflight Liono Hedgehogs123 I know loads of you are on track to higher goals, but, do pop in if you get the chance
Irish-John ... how's it going,...there is always a cushion here for you! And I am hoping one of our friends , Bluebirdrunner . maybe popping on soon to share a run
Hi, I’m a newbie here. Completed my C25K during first lockdown. Kept running for around a year but struggling to start up again so came back to C25K to repeat it. I have 1000 excuses why it’s hard but hopefully reading your messages will inspire me! Thanks for all you info Oldfloss 😁 I’m planning to start Monday…
Do stay around... and welcome! The Corner is a tad quiet, I think many folk are on holiday!
Do check out the pinned post on how to run C25K, it is essential to keep you safe and help you enjoy the journey! It does no harm to refresh our knowledge
My mantra, as you will discover is, slow and steady... it works for many, many of us.
You have done this before, you know you are able to achieve it.
No pressure, no surprises...just taking each week and each run with confidence
Well done you... I shall watch for your first post...
Hi OF, always look forward to reading your ramble. Not sure about higher goals, I've been having a happy time just consolidating. I've discovered that my favourite runs are those without earphones, no one talking to me. I have registered for Parkrun (haven't got myself organised enough to take part yet but I intend to) but I have a sneaky suspicion that for me this is a solitary pursuit ☺️
I have always been a lone runner! It is a joy.Either with our own music, or without and just running with Nature and all its sounds and sights. I then write about my runs...
I have run with friends, latterly. but the first time was at a PR, ( which I do not do regularly), in order to practice running on flat ground... before my first HM!
We had a meet up and it was huge fun. After that one, I felt confident enough to do one solo...
We run for ourselves and we do that in exactly the way that is right for us... consolidation, mixing the runs ups, and just sometimes, heading out with no idea of distance or time can be wonderful!
Gallivanting around East Anglia for a few days - my running shoes are beginning to look at me reproachfully! I keep telling them we’ll be back in the coolth of the north soon! … but I DO love “breakfast- outside- in- the- sun- before- it’s- too- hot” weather!😄
This sounds fabulous!!!!!! Just wonderful... soak it all up and store it away for the wet and chilly days!Enjoy... every sun filled moment ... its raining here !!! xxx
Hello Oldfloss ! I’ve been meaning to drop by for a while, and it would have been a bit sooner but I just got caught up in the Old Man Cave run! I used to live in the States and I still so miss the snow in the winter. Anyway, we can dream of cooler days can’t we 😊. I had a nice longish run just this morning, dragged myself out of bed pretty early and was rewarded with chilly arms! I know, unheard of at the moment 🤣. Anyway, I hope you manage to get out soon and thank you for allowing me to have a cushion plump. 😊😊😊
I love that run... so much when I am on the TM.. !Lovely to see you here and so good that you got out into the morning air.. it warmed up here this afternoon... and I could be tempted maybe to have a small outing tomorrow...
Puff puff😅...well I'm here, grabs a cushion and sits down gratefully...Hi Floss and Cosy corneres. Thank you Floss for the mention, it made sure I went out for my run ☺
My daughter and grandson are away, so I had time for myself that could include that guilty pleasure RUNNING🏃♀️...
I headed out, first time for ages, with no expectation and just my music. I was happy to manage two good chunks of running with a recovery walk break in between, then when I thought I was spent, broke into a little joggle for another half a k at the end, which became very comfortable. I really enjoyed the freedom of running and put no pressure on myself.
Experience has taught me that walk breaks are not cheating, just a breather during your run, before you go again.
Yes, I enjoyed that runners high feeling on my cool down walk as the endorphins kicked in.
Must mention that a song came up on my play list that I didn't remember was on there. Three Lions (It's coming home) and this spurred me on remembering our lionesses the other day!
This is excellent news and, catching your breath whilst the family are away...that will be so good. The run sounds to be just the kind of run you needed... relaxed, no expectation except to enjoy... it would be so good if we could always hang on to that thought.
We run, we pause, we breathe, we go with it... perfect... and to get that wonderful, satisfied feeling... that must have been incredible!
The music... just right... and for someone as strong as you are... a great choice, a Mama and a Nanny Lioness xxx
It is my mantra and always has been...infamous for it on the forums! It gets us exactly, where we wish to be... safely and enjoyably !
Just take the PR gently... just warm-up well and run for the time... walk if need be... don't try to push too hard.
Maybe when you have opted out before it is because, even subconsciously you are trying too hard...
Like tomorrow... walk a bit and just run for the 20 minutes... it is a fun run and so , keep it a fun run that is moving you forward.
When you have finished the nine weeks, there is so much to keep you going... but... get there first and then we will be her to give you some ideas of where next!
Meantime... keep popping in here and we and I, (n slow and steady), will keep you moving!
Hello 👋 I am fairly new but been around here before, just peeking in every now and then. I’ve done c25 3 times. Last time I started working on 10K which I loved. I then got sick with Covid, and other sickness that followed, and then I hit a busy time of year and just the exhaustion of sickness took me out, ugh! It really set me back. Anyway I am here and I am just heading into week4 which I am feeling so ready for.
It’s so nice to meet you all and it’s great to be here. I hope to finish this c25 and then get some tips for the 10K. I felt like a real novice with that. Honestly it’s just great to be here because it means I’m back on track. Thanks 👋
