Thanks! James Dunne has a set of dynamic stretches which I always do before a run and I think they have helped me a lot.

I still do the ones from the programme guide 😁

Have you noticed they've changed them recently?

The original excercises are still there at the end of the article linked to in the guide .

Oooh yes so important Ian! Back doing C25K I think the warm up walk was about all I did for the most part, but now I have a little stretch routine going before I run . I remember the first time I did it and thinking wow that makes such a difference! A really good article 😊😊😊, thank you.

I had problems after W1R1 of C25k and have done then ever since 😁

Ah you did it right from the get go pretty much! Wish I had - could have saved myself a lot of stiffness 😁.

You never know !I was fine on W1R2 so just kept on doing them 😁

I’m definitely going to fit these in before my non interval runs from now on

I just think of them as part of the run 🙂

Thanks, very interesting. I've been doing dynamic stretches since early in c25k, maybe I'll put a bit more effort in!

Always the last thing I do before going out of the door 🙂

Thank you, such a great reminder at how important these type of stretches are. How people turn up at Parkrun 5mins before the start and then just run without any stretches or warm up amazes me. Not only would I be worried about injury but I'm sure my body would be so sluggish, but plenty do!👼

Yes, I have often wondered the same about park runs 🤔I have yet to do one

I'm totally addicted to Parkrun both as a runner and as a volunteer. Met so many great like minded people and just love the banter!

Yes, I should give them a go .My brother has been doing them for years and is totally addicted 😁

Absolutely!!

From my experience of Parkrun, quite a lot of runners do their stretches before it starts, near the start line (myself included). Others I have seen, do a light jog to the start line to warm up.

Agreed, but there's loads who don't. I've had that conversation with quite people, and some say ' oh I'll be fine, I don't have time and some say, 'I don't run fast so it wouldn't affect me' Only a matter of time for some of them to get an injury.

It’s certainly very risky! What you don’t see at PR is people doing post run stretches! Hopefully they do them at home….. 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

I will usually do a few stretches (typically of the squat type) on the start line before a parkrun, but always take the first few minutes of the run more slowly as the walk from car to start line takes about two minutes on average.

Hi there, thanks for this.

Do you have a link for the post run stretch? I assume they are different….

Thanks.

I've just checked the link in the guide but it appears to take you to a different page now, however, there are many static stretches online !You might find these usefull
