Shake it off - yeess Taylor!

Wk 1 run 2, bit of a niggle in my dodgy ankle got in my head to begin with this morning. I started to feel a slight panic that an old injury (an unfortunate slip and slide incident we won’t talk about) was going to stop me before I’d really got started again. I was taking it slowly and by the second run felt a little more confident. For me music is key especially in these early runs. Don’t get me wrong a peaceful, mindful run is a joy but I also love the energy certain tunes can lend me when I most need them to. So it was perfect timing when little Taylor Swift started blaring in my ears and being the good girl that I am, I did as I was told and I shook off the doubt and the fear. I relaxed and smiled and finished strong, ready for run 3. Bring it on!

Well done you... sing on and run on! Lots of really simple and gentle ideas for ankle strength on the S and F forum. Wild Ginger Runner on YouTube has some great ones too. I use them a lot!

Found out on Sunday that my friend went to school with Claire from Wild Ginger Running. That was exciting.

I do seem to. I once (literally) walked into Jack Dee in Covent Garden too. And I’ve met Monty Don. I’m a celeb magnet 🧲😂

Glad your run came good and you finished with a smile on your face.

It’s always tricky finding a line between listening to your body and worrying about how things feel. Sounds like you got the right balance but if you ever feel any pain on the run, please stop.

Congratulations on getting your second run in. Good luck with the next one.
