I've posted on here a few times about my running insecurities, which are mainly how slow I run and going bright red. I started the C25K in January via the podcast running by myself in the dark and loved it! However since graduating I found the adjustment to running in daylight difficult, no matter how many times people rightly told me other people dont care and its the fact I'm running that matters I couldnt shake the gremlins off!
I tried a couple of park runs but found the pace too fast, i did a couple of 5K races which were ok but didnt change how i felt. I then stepped up to 10k training and from Sep-Nov took part in 4 races knocking off over 5minutes on my time and finally coming a couple of minutes under the 70 minute mark.
For a few months my friend has been trying to encourage me to join a running club telling me about the benefits. After lots of reservations, last night I finally plucked up the courage and went to my first running club! And was left wondering what took me so long! I really enjoyed it, like minded people of all different abilities and pace, simply a group of people who like to run
The point of this rambling post is to anyone with running insecurities, keep going and kick those gremlins to the curb...we can do this

That's brilliant Lyndz. I wonder how many of us start running in the dark You've done fantastically well. And well done with all the races and joining the running club. Glad you're enjoying it
Yay! Good news! And I'm definitely more of a distance girl. Maybe 5k is not really your distance - keep going with the 10k & beyond and you might find you start loving it more and more as you cover longer distances.
I don't think 5Km is for me either. It takes the first km for my lungs to settle into a routine of remembering to work, but then I can trot along quite happily. I am only regularly running once a week but since graduating in Sept I have upped my distances and did 8.8km last weekend (and its hilly round me!) My aim is 10k by Christmas along the river Thames where it's flat!
Keep going, the gremlins are in your head! And this time of year is tough seems to be the feeling.
