Four months ago I posted that I was going to have a long lay off but it’s looking permanent. Haven’t been able to run at all and pain free walking is even a problem at the moment. Doctors as good as useless so probably have to go private just to get back on track. Have enjoyed being in this group and proud I went from non runner to completing 5K. But at the ripe old age of 65 I think it’s time to hang up the running shoes. Good luck everyone wherever you are in your journey. I enjoyed the journey and reading your comments thanks for the support but it’s goodbye from me.

Running days are over
Sorry to read that ... did you ever see a sports physio ?
That was going to be my next option and just found out a friend’s son is one, doctor thinks it Planter Facia but it seems strange the symptoms move from leg to leg and different joints heels, ankles , knees and today woke up and found it hard to move my toes. Am going to a foot podiatrist soon and am awaiting NHS physio but won’t hold my breath for that appointment . I’m thinking possibly Arthritis related but it’s a mystery and blood tests come back OK.
Sounds like a lot going on!
I wouldn't write yourself off just yet. If you're not aware of private charges, a typical sports physio (please try and find one that is running focused), should charge around £60-70 for an initial 45-60 minute assessment and then maybe around half that for follow-up shorter sessions.
Sorry to hear and would ask the same question as John_W .It may be worth a sports physio's opinion if you haven't already had one ?
Sorry to hear you've had all this pain, you're only a year older than me so just a spring chicken
I really hope you sort out your pain, not only so you can get back to being active but mostly because it's really horrible when you hurt all the time.
Good luck!
Sorry to hear this. It sounds painful.But...if you still want to run, then maybe see a Sports Physio.
Getting a correct diagnosis is the first step.
Then you know where you are.
The runs will wait. So will we.
Go and get a diagnosis. Xx
PS
I started at 65...still running now at 72.
Sad to hear you feel your journey is at an end. Hopefully not the case.
As Oldfloss says, getting a correct diagnosis is a first step. I lost about 5 years to an incorrect one ☹️
If you can, document as much as possible before seeing a physio. Date, pain and what areas. Any activity you may have done that seemed to agitate it. Easy to forget details when put on the spot and then remember as your heading back out the door. The information might help point to the problem and any patterns. Many of my pains where symptoms rather than causes so working in the right area treated multiple issues.
Never say never. Hope you get sorted & are back here soon. Good luck.
Again never say never. You are 3yrs younger than me and I really hope you can get it sorted so you can keep enjoying running.
