I didn't think we'd do it, but finally we did the last run today. Still a fair distance away from 5km on 30 mins, but you never know what the future holds.

Well done henacynflin. It took me a year to get to a 30 minute 5k. I was 67 at that point. I focussed on long slow runs in that first year; 10k plus was easily achieved and I am sure the strength and stamina built up in the process helped me to pick up pace over time. 👍

Thanks, that is good to hear. Nice to know that even at 66 there is a chance I might manage it

Then take a look at this post for running after C25K.

P.S

Don't worry about 5K in 30 minutes!

Only around 10% achieved that by graduation (some of which ended up injured !)

Your best development will come from running 80% of your runs at a conversational pace !

Enjoy consolidation

I did W9R1 on Friday and I think my distance was 4.3. I don’t expect to be at 5k by the end

Tantalisingly closer though

I can barely believe 2 more runs to go!

Really well done. The important thing is the 30 minutes. Just think back on when you could barely do a minute.

Oh I remember well taking a sneaky peak at the next run and being shocked that there was a nightmare '3min' run
