Well hello everyone…Happy new year to you all, I hope you all had a good Christmas?

I had a lovely Christmas, lots of laughter & spending time with my children, which I love!

As some of you know, I’m currently revisiting C25k and as you can see I’m on week 6 & my next run will be run 2…it occurred to me though, & i remember it from 5 years ago when I did C25k the first time around, that the start of week 6 can often end in disaster…& leave us wondering why? After nailing w5r3 and running for a solid 20 mins why does 5 mins & then 8 mins & then another 5 mins feel so hard??? Well, it didn’t to me yesterday but I have come to the conclusion that, after the ‘biggy’ that is w5r3 (and I have to say that the thoughts of this run are all in the head!!) we feel invincible & take on week 6 like we’ve been running for decades!! I didn’t last night because I remember how I felt the first time round, I was deflated because I couldn’t even run for the first run which is only 5 mins…Last night I took it really steady…started slower than slow & completed every run comfortably, with extras left in the tank…

So, if you’re on week 5, remember that starting any run like a greyhound after a rabbit doesn’t work…yes, you’ve done a big run & even Laura says that a 20 min run is a big jump but one that you’ve been preparing for, it’s week 6 that’s the tricky one…so take my advice and don’t go out there expecting to be running like a pro, go out there with your sensible head on and keep it slow and steady 😉😉

Happy running everyone…you’re all amazing 🤩

Excellent advice Mummycav! I’m hoping the nice physio will allow me to start trotting again when I see him later this week and I’ll be heading back to C25K again, like so many other seem to be at the moment! I’m really looking forward to it and promise to be sensible when I get to week 6!

Such good advice Mummycav - and not just for week 6 runs either. The more I run, the more I realise I have still so much to learn and, importantly, put into practice. Happy running to you!

That’s so true…even though I’ve been running for 5 years I’m still learning…most important thing I can say is listen to your body x

Ah brilliant Mummycav! I love the greyhound analogy, wise words. I am more like a sausage dog out of the traps I have to say. Well done on your run, it only seems like 5 minutes ago you were at week 1! 🏃🏻‍♀️😊🌟

Hi nice to hear from you. Thank you - I am revisiting C25 too and just completed week 5 run 3. Going to do a couple more before attempting week 6 😀

Great Post and great tips there too! Strange how everything falls lnto place and how much we evolve. I smile now, at the things I used to think were hills! They were little inclines...I use really steep ones as warm ups now...to stop me going out like a greyhound...just as you say!

Wise words Mummycav. Slow and steady all the way. 🐢 🐌
