Well hello everyone…Happy new year to you all, I hope you all had a good Christmas?
I had a lovely Christmas, lots of laughter & spending time with my children, which I love!
As some of you know, I’m currently revisiting C25k and as you can see I’m on week 6 & my next run will be run 2…it occurred to me though, & i remember it from 5 years ago when I did C25k the first time around, that the start of week 6 can often end in disaster…& leave us wondering why? After nailing w5r3 and running for a solid 20 mins why does 5 mins & then 8 mins & then another 5 mins feel so hard??? Well, it didn’t to me yesterday but I have come to the conclusion that, after the ‘biggy’ that is w5r3 (and I have to say that the thoughts of this run are all in the head!!) we feel invincible & take on week 6 like we’ve been running for decades!! I didn’t last night because I remember how I felt the first time round, I was deflated because I couldn’t even run for the first run which is only 5 mins…Last night I took it really steady…started slower than slow & completed every run comfortably, with extras left in the tank…
So, if you’re on week 5, remember that starting any run like a greyhound after a rabbit doesn’t work…yes, you’ve done a big run & even Laura says that a 20 min run is a big jump but one that you’ve been preparing for, it’s week 6 that’s the tricky one…so take my advice and don’t go out there expecting to be running like a pro, go out there with your sensible head on and keep it slow and steady 😉😉
Happy running everyone…you’re all amazing 🤩
