My left calf has been really sore this last week, I think I have offended it somewhere along the line so an now trying to give it a bit of TLC; I have always suffered some strength "issues" in my calfs which have long been the weak link in my chain.
At the moment it is like someone has inserted a butterbean under my shin muscle, a quite visible lump even through my running tights - never mind "VPL" its when your "pulses" start showing you know your trousers are too tight
So spent last night icing it to try to work the lump down a bit and it was a joy, oh how comfortable it feels now. Still some swelling and a bit of of stiffness so a few more days of that but what a pleasure, and even some early success. Onwards......

Hi Greg, you could try doing some gentle calf stretches....... Try standing on a step or your stairs, feet together, shuffle back so that your heels are no longer on the step and let them drop a little. This is a really simple but effect way of stretching out those tight calves at the end of a run - its best to do muscle stretches when they're warm. Hope it feels better soon and doesn't stop you progress!!
