Frustrated

Was going soo well, running again following knee replacement, and putting on the lockdown belly,67 years old and feeling every year of it,then decided I have to give the Cto5k (which I downloaded about 4 years ago) a try.

Played football until I was 60 then walking football before knee replacement 2hf years ago, so pretty confident. Week 7 run 3, had little ache in achillies, rested for 4 days, then after run 1 week 8 my achillies swelled and painfull.

Has anyone had similar injury and how long to run again..?🀦😒

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

I had a minor tweak of my left Achilles, with no swelling and I did not run for over a month. I was ten years younger than you at the time and that age difference is significant. I would recommend that you consult a physio or at least follow the link in the guide to the plan to the NHS Sports injuries page.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

You may find this FAQ Post about Aging and Running useful healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

Enjoy your journey.
