Welcome to the forum ! First 5 minute runs ! Sounds like you have just started week 4 then ? ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

Have you read through the program guide ?

healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

It's full of really helpful information to help you through the program.

Keep hydrated, keep your runs slow and enjoy the program ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ‘

Welcome to the forum.

Most people don't enjoy running simply because they try too hard.

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

Counterintuitively, it is easy conversational pace running that builds your stamina and endurance, not fast running.

Say this sentence out loud to yourself "Am I going slow enough to enable me to speak this sentence in one out breath?" If you cannot, you are going too fast.

The guide to the plan is also essential reading.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you Iโ€™m only running at 7k so I think itโ€™s just that itโ€™s a shock to the system ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes, but if you cannot speak easily, then you cannot breathe fully, so it is the easiest way to judge your pace for optimum development.

What do you mean by "running 7k"?

7km/hour, perhaps? For some here that pace (8'35"/km) would be considered a bit fast. That's a very fast walking pace (think John Cleese in a hurry).

Are you using a treadmill or running outside?

Yes 7k per hour

How do you know what speed you're doing?

I run on a treadmill as find I trip too much outside as Iโ€™m very accident prone ๐Ÿ˜‚

In that case, you're probably best dialling the speed down a fraction.

I haven't any experience at all of running on treadmills. All my running (about 850 miles so far this year) has been outside. As to accidents, you can get them on treadmills too.

Well done! If you're not enjoying it, as others have said, you're probably going too fast, which is easy to do on a treadmill from my experience. Your pace is pretty quick. Hope you start to enjoy it soon!
