Am scheduled to run W8 R3 tomorrow but had my booster jab this afternoon…. any reason why I shouldn’t stick to my plans?

If your arm is still sore it might be uncomfortable to run. You can give it a try or wait til Monday. Only you know if you will feel OK. I did my run 3 days after my booster but I had a calf injury for a month! You could always do strength exercises (maybe not your arms!?)

Thanks for sharing your experience and hope you are fully recovered. I will see how I feel…. after all, if I have to slow down and walk, I will still have been for a decent walk I suppose!

Thanks. I have been doing 4Ks and 5K at the weekend. I may push to 6K tomorrow on my way back to 10K by New Year maybe. It is hard. You have to listen to your body, but ignore the gremlins. Differentiating between the two can be tough as adrenaline does funny things.

See how you feel.

I had no negative effects from my booster, but some people feel rough for a few days.

I guess that I will simply have to wait until the morning to find out how I feel and take it from there….just keen not to get out of the routine of running 3 times a week.

It really won't make any difference at this stage if you have to wait a few days.

Just wait and see how you feel. I had mine last Tuesday evening (with the flu vaccine as well), and I was fine until the following lunchtime, apart from a slightly sore arm. Then it hit me.... I was supposed to run on the Wednesday night but I could hardly walk upstairs. I'm still not 100% & haven't run since Monday. I'm not complaining - a couple of days of feeling meh is much better than the alternative, but listen to your body & don't push yourself.

I ran two days after each of my initial vaccinations (which was my schedule as had previously run of the morning of each jab) but after the booster I felt rough within three hours of having the jab, and didn't run for a week. Honestly depends how you feel.

Glad to say that I felt fine when I awoke this morning so headed off and felt absolutely fine other than the sore arm. These jabs affect everyone differently and I think I have been lucky in terms of not having man side effects. On to W9!

Fear that I may be a fair weather runner! Does wrapping up warm and running really go together?

Some suggest the guidelines say to dress as if it is 10 degrees warmer! I am not a fan of falling over on ice though. I live in London so snow is rare. Plus whenever it falls it gets compacted and becomes icy!

I’ve heard a number of account of fatigue and muscle aches after the booster jab. Only advice I can give is “see how you feel”. Don’t be a slave to the program: there is no harm in not running for a day or two, or heading out for a scheduled run and cutting it short. Any run that we do not finish is immediately re-labelled a test-run. You went out to test your fitness, and proved that you were not quite ready.

Not what you're looking for?
