Well after finding out I had caught Covid after week 8 run3, I still haven’t got any energy to consider running again, got a silly cough that won’t go and I feel drained!!

Sorry about you getting Covid after you ran run 3 of week 8, so flustrating with only 3 runs until you would have graduated, it all means that whenever you feel better to run again you will have to go back to the beginning of the course, I hope it won't be long before you can run again, good luck.

I don't understand AlMorr - why would someone automatically have to go back to the beginning of the programme if they've completed Week 8? Yes, they should certainly take the time they need to recover, as advised by IannodaTruffe . That might turn out to mean restarting C25K, but as far as I know, it's by no means compulsory.

JB6978 , hope you're well again soon, just don't overdo it!

It depends on long a runner has been off running Cmoi, if longer than 3 or 4 months I think they will have to restart, if only a month, they can see how their runs go and perhaps restart around half way, maybe at week 4.

Thanks for replying AlMorr .

I completely understand that it depends. However, that isn't what your original post said.

Going by JB6978 's other posts, his last run - W8R3 - was less than two weeks ago. As he says he's not ready to run yet, he'll be off longer. Not a problem, that's the right thing to do. But he will not necessarily have to go back to the start of C25K when he's feeling well enough to start running again.

Glad the Covid has gone but give yourself time and listen to your body.

You are on the way to recovery but give yourself time.

This NHS article about recovery from Covid may help yourcovidrecovery.nhs.uk/yo...

As stated in the guide to the plan, you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running. After that loss of condition is gradual.

All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out for a gentle run and see what we can comfortably manage, then use C25k or something similar to rebuild stamina and resistance to injury.

Good to hear you are now covid free 👍It may still be some time before you are able to run though !

At which stage all you can really do is to go out for a no pressure gentle jog and see how you get on !

But don't push yourself !

Having done this it will give you some idea as to where you are in relation to the program !.

Take care and take it easy !

I got covid on the very last run. So glad I completed it. You are so close and I really feel for you. I too was drained. I couldn't even make a cup of tea without shaking from all the effort that took. I also had a cough. My cough lasted about 6 months. I found resting as much as possible helped. Really resting. Even if I washed up, I'd be wiped out for days!. I started jogging again over a year after stopping. Eating well helped me too. Just look after yourself and you'll get back there again. I hope you feel better soon
