I have just completed week 6 and starting week 7 couch to 5k... I struggled with my first 25 minute run, not so much the running, but what to listen to/watch. If my mind is occupied, I run better and for long. I only run on the treadmill, so asking what people listen to to motivate them on the treadmill, or do people watch things on their phones?!
Thank you!

It is on Radio 4 and takes the form of a conversation between the host and the invited guest. The guest is about to be cast away on a desert island and has to chose the 8 discs that they would take with them. Consequently it is easy to listen to being a mixture of music and conversation. The invited guests are from many different fields: journalists, actors, writers, politicians, sports people, doctors, lawyers, campaigners, singers and more.
I put a selection of Desert Island Discs podcasts onto my phoned listen through my headphones. I know people have recommended many different podcasts that make them laugh, but I have completely forgotten their titles. Have you put listening while running go something similar in the search bar, top right of the Health Unlocked screen to find related posts? Have fun finding something that you enjoy.
Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
Getting to Wk 7 on a treadmill is quite an achievement........well beyond my boredom thresholds.
You will find distraction helpful, so that the last things you think about are time and the physicality of running. If music doesn't do it, try podcasts or audiobooks. I used to give myself a running commentary on everything that I could see, hear, feel and smell as I ran, in full florid sentences............but I don't suppose that works on the mill.
Hello, thank you for your reply! I never thought of listening to a podcast or an audio book! I will definitely give it a try! With music, I find myself concentrating on the app, or watching the treadmill monitor counting down the minutes
I listen the podcast No Such Thing as a Fish. It can be quite rude (disclaimed!) but it’s funny and informative. It’s the QI elves talking about facts that the don’t use in the show.
