I'm going to Australia for 3 weeks at the end of March which will hopefully be just after I finish C 25k.

It will probably be in the 20s so warmer than I'm used to - any tips??

Lucky you. Can't help you though, I've only been running for 9 weeks in Britain ! :)

Hmmm run at cooler times of the day.. wear a hat to keep the sun off your head, and lots of sunblock!

I get too hot running here in February so I can't even imagine trying to run in that heat!

Thanks :-) I was wondering about whether I should drink sports drinks rather than water? I'm bound to be "glowing" alot lol.

Casdix I'm really impressed that you are taking your running gear on holiday!!! I think if you are drinking plenty of water before the run and take some with you it will be fine if you are still doing 30 mins.

Am very jealous of your trip!

Hi Casdix, I live in Melbourne and have been running for the last 4 weeks. Depending on the weather you need to pick your days and the time of day that you run. We had temps in the high 30's last weekend so I was up and out running at 7 in the morning and other days I have left it until the evening. It's at it's hottest between 11am - 5pm so definitely avoid going out during those times. Drink plenty of water, make sure you wear a hat and don't forget sunscreen (factor 30+) as the Australian sun seems to burn through layers of skin (especially our northern hemisphere skin). Dont forget its our first day of Autumn tomorrow which is the best season in Oz as far as i am concerned ;) Not sure where you are going but there are some fabulous places to run and the Aussies are very much into fitness so there are always lots of people (of all shapes and sizes) about! Cheers, Caroline

We're going to Brisbane - I have family there. I don't want to leave the running for 3 weeks as I want to keep on top of it :-), thanks for the advice, Carol

You should be fine then as the temp won't be too extreme. It may be a bit humid but just keep up the water intake. You will be so proud of yourself if you keep up the running whilst on holiday and it well help balance out all of the eating you will probably do whilst you are here ;). Good luck.
