Re-starting

I completed C25k three years ago and progressed to 10k, although always with some short walking breaks. I lost a fair bit of weight last year, and although still not where I want to be I’m feeling the benefit. Being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last November made things really tricky and I was very nervous of exercising outside of the house for ages. I am getting the hang of things now and while it’s still quite unpredictable, I’m certainly getting there. Week 1 run 1 today felt good but I went off way too fast in the first half so suffered in the second half. Should know better, really!

Welcome back to the forum and well done on restarting.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Welcome, I too am a second time arounder. I made the mistake of going too fast but didn't learn the importance of slowing down until the runs got longer and I struggled. Well done with the weight loss. The running should help with your diabetes too. Happy running.

Thank you! I’m hoping the regular exercise will help stabilise my sugars a bit: it’s a bit of a rollercoaster ride at the moment!

Great return to running molly1973 and you spotted the speed error, good luck next time out, you'll nail it 👌

I know where that is! Never been to the museum or the rabbit farm, though, and Castell Criccieth was shut when we visited.

I guess Oldfloss added a photo: I can’t see it. It was a beautiful run on a beautiful day. I was on holiday so it was sadly likely to be a one-off but it was wonderful.

If you're using the (abandoned) iPhone app, you can't see photos.

I was in the area (but further to the tip of the peninsula) in July this year.

Ah... thanks for the heads-up: I have always just used the iOS app. Now I am logged in on my laptop I can see it!

Well done on getting back to C25K and on your weight loss!

I'm starting again from scratch as well, having graduated, like you, 3 years ago. I was doing Park Run every week and getting a few seconds faster each time, but then we all know what happened last year!

Good to know there are others starting again, let's hope we can all encourage eachother to keep going!
