I was of the don’t look at the stats persuasion while doing C25K, then I got a Garmin, and it became a little harder to avoid the numbers. Going to adapt my watch as per the picture for my next run.

Picture stolen from this great article. trailrunnermag.com/training...

Ah brilliant, I love it! It’s so hard to keep our eyes off the watch isn’t it, and just focus on the run itself. I may well copy this 🤩.

It’s strange... when logging a walk I just have a watch face up... never thought of doing it for a run too 🤣

I think I will have one saying... Just keep running, Laura will tell you when to stop!

Might take Laura for a run soon, it’s a while since I did a 30minute one on the app.

Just love this! Especially the post-it 😂

I do try not to look but sometimes it's difficult not to.

It is so hard... those vibrations make me look, and the answer is so obvious, turn the mile/km lap function off!

Only got my Garmin, a Forerunner 45S, about a year after completing C25K. So glad I didn't spend more, as a posher model would've been completely wasted on me.

I don't mind knowing what pace I'm running at, but since that frequently varies by 100% or more in a single run, it's hardly earth-shatteringly useful.

You are one up on me... I have a Garmin but no idea what model. Until my son got a Garmin recently I had only logged walks/runs, looked at the time and heartbeat at basic levels... Now he tells me all these other things it can do..

I just pressed a few buttons randomly Mrsrun to see what happened!

Seriously, knowing everything else mine can do just isn't important to me right now. I'll probably play with it more at some time in the future, but I'm more interested in my physical and emotional responses to running than in data and algorithms. 😉🙃

I wish I felt comfident enough to do Park Run again, but my nearest is a very narrow route and I wouldn't feel happy with it yet :(

We will drag you to one 🤣

I never look at pace or splits while running and am only interested in the total ground covered. Becoming familiar with a comfortable pace, a hard pace and an unsustainable pace does not require a timepiece, just self awareness.

I cannot resist the buzzes. Less buzzes is all I kneed. When it is too fast I am aware of it very quickly, when it is slower than usual it is usually more fun.

Ha ha, excellent idea. It wouldn’t work for me though, I have Mr Garmin telling me my pace at the end of each km via my headphones. 😂😂

UnfitNoMore profile image

Mine is set to do that I think... but as I rarely run with headphones or my phone, it doesn’t work!

It does sometimes turn live tracking on when I pass my phone/house though.

Yup... that is what we need... I sometimes hide my Garmin under my cuff on my shirt But at the moment I just run and see what it says at the end of the run:)

When I am in long sleeves I cannot see it. Maybe that’s why I prefer winter?

Ah... but I wear long sleeves in summer too.. insect and sun repellent!🦗😎

One of the Garmin coaches wears her watch over a long sleeve top, which I don’t get as surely HR will not work.

What a good idea

I have just recently stopped tracking my running speed because it was demotivating me if I ran slower on some runs and ultimately it doesn’t matter. Running has so many benefits regardless of how fast I may be going. I liked that article.

I usually check to see that I’m running slowly enough, but perceived effort is a better way of knowing that

One advantage to needing glasses. I cant even see the stats as I run. Just have a surprise at the end!!! 🙂

I don't have a Garmin, just use my phone and Strava, so am blissfully unaware of my pace. Really does make for no pressure runs🤗😂🐌 🌻xxx
