Managed 5k today (I did an extra minute to get there as I was determined to get to 5k!!). The last 9 weeks has literally felt like a lifetime but itβs also gone so quickly at the same time. Thanks to everyoneβs advice, weβll wishes and support. Suffice to say that when I tried this first time round, I was not using the app, and I quit at week 1 or 2 (canβt remember which).
Not only have I improved my fitness, Iβve lost 2 stone by simply running, no dietary change, just this run and a 30 - 60 min walk on my rest days. On my 5 minute cool down walk I was almost in tears as Iβm just not the sporty type and Iβve always been the unfit one at home!
I honestly donβt think I was even this excited for my actual graduation! Iβm so proud of myself and Honey for doing this, and getting off of the sofa π (even though Honey didnβt run with me today, she has been such a good girl).
Any tips for what to do next? Iβm a creature of habit and Iβm worried without Laura or a plan Iβll just stop or find excuses as Iβm not aiming for anything.
Thatβs so good on both counts! Not so much a next but to consolidate my runs Iβve been redoing week 9 with each coach. Just Sanjeev to go now! And itβs ensured Iβve done another 3 weeks (2 so far) to try find what works for me x
Massive congratulations π!!what an achievement why dont you do week 9 a few weeks with as someone suggested different coaches. 30β every other day isngoing to get your fitness up no end.
I also recommend the free app NRC as they do guided runs if you want a variety.
Wow what an achievement . Now you are the same as the rest of your family , Sporty!.. Imagine all those news clothes you will need with your fantastic weight loss and how your body will love you for your fitness.
I loved reading your post , you are an inspiration well done . I have one more to go . I have signed up for The Park Runs as donβt want to lose the fitness . Like you I shall miss Laura . I have a friend I run with so we hope to keep going too . Go and treat yourself to something nice x
Many congratulations runner ππ»ππ»ππ»π
You've done incredibly well.
As you said, you're a creature if habit, so make it a habit! Be sure to run 2 to 3 times a week. You can vary distance, both short and longer depending on your time commitments etc, but make running an integral part of your life.
As you keep going decide what you need to keep it fun, do you want to do events? Set your own challenges? You will continue to reap the benefits for a long time to come so just relax into it and enjoy it for a few weeks then maybe hop onto the Bridge to 10k board too and think about reaching a bit further.
That is excellent (I needed an extra 9 minutes to get to 5k on my graduation run). Well done you. Hopefully this is the start of something special for you now.
Since starting in March 2019 (graduated May 2019) I've come down from 15st to 12st, so I can also attest to becoming lighter as well as fitter. Since then, I've also pushed on to get to HM distance (which I've done 12 times), so be warned, this can become addictive.
