I just ran my first full 5K since I've started the C25K course. I am intended to finish this course, even though I managed to run 5K without a break or interval.
In total, this track took me 41 minutes and 22 seconds, but that is including the warm up and the cooling down.
But ... this isn't actually a C25K for me, it's a HM25K. I've been running a half marathon in 2019. That was a bit beyond my abilities, and after that I've never managed more than 14K.
I begun getting pain in my shins, and a physio therapist suggested special inlays. The shin pain was gone almost immediately. But after 14K, I suddenly got pain in my right leg. My running distances got shorter and shorter, and when I was on 4K, my wife (occupational therapist) suggested to take a break a few weeks, and then start from scratch. I did so. But I restarted too fast: within 4 weeks I was running 10K. And then the pain came back. I took another break for two weeks, and then I started this C25K. But I still had pain in my right leg.
Then I consulted my online doctor. She said: "remove the inlay from your right shoe". That did the trick. For now. I haven't been trying to run 20K, 14K or even 10K yet. Now I've run 5K, without pain. Next week, I graduate from C25K, and after that I will take a B210K - and see if the pain returns.
If it does, I'll be retiring from running. If not, I will continue to pursue my goal: a 42K - Marathon.
I WAS intended to run the marathon of Rotterdam in 2021:
2021 is the year, I am turning 45
1981 was the year, my father turned 45.
1981 was the year, my father got his first heart attack
2021 should've been the year, I ran my first marathon.
Rotterdam is the city, my father was born.
Sadly, I cannot achieve my marathon goal. But I will do a marathon, eventually. Hopefully running, and hopefully before I turn 50.
