C25k restart and question about ‘midfoot’

Hello all. I have restarted C25k after getting to week 7 in 2019 and having to stop due to achilles pain. Went to the physio but the pain didn’t go for months. This year I have been brisk walking for an hour 5 times a week since January, and have also lost 2 stone, so feel ready to try again. Am now on week 2, and it’s feeling EASY!!! Last time I found just a few paces really hard work at the start, so I’m chuffed. Am trying to do the Japanese slow jogging and this time I’m not worried that the jogging is slower than the walking – I can see now that it’s training my running muscles up. Can anyone explain what is meant by landing on the midfoot? My slow jog is essentially a flat-footed shuffle 😊 – am I doing it right? Is the ball of the foot the midfoot? Should I be landing on ball and heel at the same time? I want to be really careful this time with my achilles. Thanks for any advice.

That sounds fine. The ball of your foot is considered midfoot as opposed to toes or heels.

We all need to minimise the impact stresses and those are generally worse with a heel strike.
