I have just completed my 1st run of week nine, I managed the full 30 minutes just about but I only covered 4K.
I literally had nothing left in the tank, I don’t think I’m going to make it to 5K in the next 2 runs.. should I go back and complete week 8 again and try to improve on distance or run for longer? (not sure how much longer I could run for.. 😫)

Well done!!!! I'm a couple of runs behind you so can't wait to get to that point! I don't think it matters that you do the 5k at the end of the programme just as long as you do the 30 minutes. You are so close to the end now and already know you can do the 30 minutes!!! 😀
You have done brilliantly. The programme is to run for 30 minutes rather than doing 5k. You say you only covered 4k ..... only !!!!! That is really good going. Well done you. You are nearly at graduation. Great effort.
Only a small proportion of graduates from this forum who responded to a poll, managed 5k in 30 minutes by graduation healthunlocked.com/couchto5....
Graduation requirements are that you complete three thirty minute runs, regardless of distance.
Hi Louise, don’t worry about not reaching the magic 5k at the end of W9, you can consolidate and improve everything you’ve done after that as I hope you continue to run.
Thanks for the replies, appreciate the support .I know what your saying but I just thought that I would have done 5K at the end to me that sounds like a really good achievement. I did manage 5k at the end of week 7, I had extra energy so kept going, it took 38 minutes to reach 5k.
Your right 30 minutes continuous running is the achievement and I can build speed & distance once I graduate 👩🏻🎓 thanks so much
I’ve learned to slow down a lot so I’m actually covering less distance now than I was before the programme but much more comfortably and with no aches and pains the next day! I’ve just done W9R2 and I measured just the running section for the first time, I covered 4.2km and I’m really pleased with that, hoping to get to 5km by the end of the consolidation runs. Well done on being able to run for 30 mins, it’s a massive achievement!
