So, this morning, I tackled the supposedly tricky W6R1. I kept a slow pace going and managed ok but found the last 5-minute run really tiring, as my thighs were aching a bit. I had to shout encouragement at myself (luckily, no one was around at the time I ran) to keep going. I know at this point it's totally a mental thing not a physical. I spent extra time on my stretches after the run and have started doing a half-hour of yoga every evening too. According to my fitness app, it says I went 4.06km today! Seems I may be on track for the elusive 5k!
Good luck to everyone for your next run. We got this!

I'm guessing that includes the walking too. Also if it's a fitness app, it might be estimating distance based on number of steps rather than measuring with GPS.
I never measured anything until I'd completed C25K Pigpog as I knew I'd end up comparing myself adversely to others. Of course, not owning a Fitbit, a fitness app or a running watch helped! 😜
Come to that, almost a year in, all I do is use the free version of Strava. I'll be buying myself a running watch once I've finally made up my mind which to get. I've been wibbling for months, I'm hopeless!
Firstly, that is excellent news. W6R1 is the bogey run for many. Slaow and steady is the key, and that sounds like what you did.Your distances sound somewhat out, if I may say so, but that really doesn't matter one jot. in C25K, the time running is the only really important consideration. I hear that about 10-15% ever make it to 5K at W9R3, but ALL make it to 30m mins. That is what to aim for. Distances can wait for another day.
Well done Pigpog. I think you're a similar distance to me at that point (if we're including the walking at the start and end). It's nice to see the distance creep up 😊
Thanks, DylanTheRabbit, yes, I was including the brisk walking parts. It is good to see the distance creeping up but sadly, no one seems to believe I went that far. I may not have done but that's what the fitness app on my iPod told me and I've nothing else to compare it with. Whether I did that distance or not, I'm still doing the programme and am doing W6R2 tomorrow 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️😁
I also include the walking. I think if I've covered the ground, why not count it? The figures are only for interest anyway. Also I don't want to be faffing with my phone when I should be starting to run.
Good luck with the rest of week 6. Soon you'll be leaving those intervals behind for good!
