Why did this one feel like the hardest of the week 4 runs? I did it but it was not comfortable- should I repeat week4 before moving to week 5?

If you completed the run you don’t need to complete but can if you want, everyone has runs that are harder than others, maybe take an extra rest day and see how you feel

Thank you- I was wondering if it was because I’d taken two days since run 2🤔

I doubt that, we took a week once near the end of the programme and felt like we were running on fresh legs the next time

Well done and welcome to the forum.

Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.

This post expands on the theme. healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

My running pal and I have repeated every week so far .... we have just finished week four but have been running for 7 weeks on the programme now. And we will repeat week four next week.... we just don’t feel ready to progress and repeating weeks seems to work for us. Both in our 60’s, overweight and never except used before - I think it will take us a while to get to week 9 😂😂😂 But it’s better to pace ourselves and enjoy it than go too fast and hate it.

I agree with you😁I'm a "repeater" and now on week 6 after 18 weeks. But I'm enjoying it and progressing slowly, and I feel my stamina improving as I repeat the same runs.

Absolutely agree about stamina. And I like the term ‘repeaters’ ! I’m very impressed with every little milestone we achieve ... not sure we’ll manage 20 mins of running in week 5 but we’ll see, power walking is a good alternative!

I think if you finished all 3 week 4 runs then go on to week 5... you probably just had one of those days... week 5 has 3 different runs so it’s quite interesting to see how you feel each time.

I did week 5 run 1 - it wasn’t too bad. Not sure I’m ready for an eight minute run on Tuesday tho 😬

Just keep giving it a try. You will almost certainly surprise yourself and if not, what’s the worst that can happen? If you had to stop you just try again another day! Good luck. You will be fine
