And I did it! Started on 1st March, last run 2nd May. Fantastic fantastic fantastic feeling.
Not sure how the other graduates felt, but once I was able to do that Week 5 Run 3, I knew this time I'l do it. My 3rd time trying the program and first time I was able to finish it. Only 5 years older, 15kg heavier, and at least 11% more body fat, full of plantar fasciitis issues and add piriform pain as well to it.
How!? I ask and promptly I answer. I jogged, I didn't sprint(not until the last few mins of the last few runs), I breathed Ok I think but I kept at it. I was patient and even though I could only muster 3.7k on Run3 with 3.8 and 3.4 in Run 1 and 2, I knew I was running for time. As per the repeated remarks by the admins/fellow runners on this forum I kept telling myself to commit to 30 mins first, the speed will come later(I so hope it does, as that's what I need).
Not rapid speed but somewhat improvement so I can take quick dashes.
Not sure how many people read this and try to take out things that might help them in their journeys but all of you, graduates aspirers strugglers sprinters, just keep at it. The final feeling is absolutely gorgeous!
And lastly, if someone can please be kind enough to help with what next?
of course the first few mins are next level discouraging.
To re-iterate, I'm 38 badly out of shape and avid cricketer want to get back to cricket. With all my aches and pains, I'm surprised I'm able to jog for 30 mins but can't do much otherwise. It's a pain to walk(with plantar fasciitis issues) but easier to jog!

Brilliant, well done you! I can sympathise with the piriformis bit, it sucks! I’m sure there’s a cricket team with your name on it just itching for you to join - onwards and upwards 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆.
I am 37 and this is also the second time or 3rd I've done this and it's about 5 years on and I'm much heavier than I was, but I'm enjoying it a lot more this time round and so far have avoided injury by taking it slow.
Good luck with your sprint work, you've completed this programme you can do that too! 😁 yes I'm saying I'm enjoying it so far but yet to run more than 5 mins so we'll see if I'm still enjoying it after the end of this week hey!
Ah thank you, in the minute or so I typed the last message read I should consolidate the run! Think I'll hang about the 30 mins mark a few more weeks and least make it to 5km before I regularly do the sprinting! 3.8k.On the 5 mins mark, I remember distinctly when I ran the 1st 5 mins run. I was annoyed as hell as I had to switch the pavements from left to right a few times - dog walkers What's helped me through the 5/8/20 min is holding the phone in my hand. Tracking the time v distance, the next lamppost or the next turning. Try that next time, it might do the trick for you too. Thinking oh I must be past the 1st min and seeing 1 min 20 sec gone is a big boost, was for me.! Now with the 30 mins run, I don't look any more.
ah thank you. Well keep at it and your dream will come true way sooner than you expect!I prefer Sarah Millican's voice. Not sure why, but her words/dialect helped. Especially when in the last few seconds she says ' you can do it, it's just a light jog' and well I end up completing it. Be it 60 secs or 30 mins. I wish you all the best. Trust me, if I can do it in my current state, everyone and anyone can.
Sorry about your plantar fasciitis, perhaps with special exercises and now running that will gradually go.Congratulations on completing C25K and graduating, well done, follow the link of IannodaTruffe to get your graduation badge and the word GRADUATE 🎓 next to your username.
Thank yo for the kind words. ah I've been dealing with this stupid PF for 7-8 years now, think I'm going to go for those specially made insoles now. I've requested the Graduate bit, thank you.
I had a bad attack of PF about 15 years ago and only a few minor versions since, perhaps the exercises and runs I do now has helped to avoid most of them.
I yes it is advisable to run in good running shoes which you will get if you go to a specialist sports shop and get a gait analysis and buy the recommended shoes and socks to match.
I have done some planking exercises, a few sit ups and push up exercises as well which may have helped me avoid PF for a while, I also walk a lot and do some bike rides as well.
Well done and well deserved. With managing the additional challenges you’ve mentioned, a fantastic achievement. Congrats! 🥇👏👏👏👏👏
PS - Try to see a specialist for your PF. I had that a good few years ago but managed to overcome it with some targeted physiotherapy and special insoles. Not had an issue since...
ah thank you so much for writing and nice words. Someone told me over the weekend to invest in some 'good £200+' insole as well. I do need to nip this in the bud it's becoming quite nuisance now!. Thank you for the pointer still. Still to meet someone who had PF and is all recovered now; without the injection of course.
