Hi everyone, so nice to share this experience with you all. After 5 years without regular exercise I finally got myself to start C25K. I am in week 5 now and very proud of myself for still going.

If you've only just started, keep it up. It's a very good programme and I already feel fitter than I was 5 weeks ago.

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Thank you, this is very helpful. Will spend time carefully reading through it all. I have booked my first running shoe shop for this week. So excited 😁

Read the post about buying running shoes linked to in the guide. It may help.

Good work getting to week 5. It was also at this point where I started to feel the benefits in my fitness. There was a certain lightness to walking around I noticed or just being able to bound up the stairs that bit quicker!
