Hello, well I’m due to complete w9r3 today but I’ve got costochondritis 🙈😩
I ended up in A&E due to the awful pain and as I had my Covid jab 2 weeks ago I think the GP wanted them to check it wasn’t a blood clot!
I haven’t done anything out of the ordinary, heavy lifting etc but I’m wondering if the running has caused it? I not convinced it has as I’m running slowly etc so I thought I’d see if anyone else has suffered with this awful pain and how long it took to recover etc?
When something like this happens what do you do about your runs? Build it back up gradually or just go for for it and finish the programme?
Any advice would be appreciate!
Thanks 😊

Hi Melbell2021, I am so sorry that you have costochondritis. I have just skimmed through the NHS info about it as not only have I not had it, I have never heard of it. The NHS entry said it could clear up in a few weeks or take several months! You will need to avoid any activity that gives the chest pain. 😞I fell from a wall last August and broke my knee among other injuries. I needed crutches and a leg brace to start with. Prior to my fall I had taken a break from running and was just building up again and had completed w9r2 on the morning of my fall. Now 8 months later I have re-graduated. Let's hope your recovery is much swifter than mine. As to where in the plan you start from, it will really depend on how long you have to stop for. Just a week and your may be fine to start at run 1 week 8 or 9, but if you are unable to run for longer I expect that you will need to go back to an earlier week in the plan. As has been said on the running forums many times, the runs will wait for you.
Get well soon. I do hope that the pain has subsided.
