Strength Training for running advice

I’ve just started on week 8 and really starting to think of ways to make my runs more enjoyable (at the time) and a bit of leg strengthening is bound to help take the edge off.

I went to the gym today with the view of hitting some weight machines and kettlebells and just did some of what I knew/done in the past:

Goblet squat

Barbell squat

Walking lunges

Seated leg curl (Machine)

Seated leg extension (machine)

I then got a bit lost on what to do next and did a few arm exercises.

I’d love to hear from anyone having done this and if they thought it helped, iMd also love to hear of anyone who’s created a better routine than this bare bones one of mine

The NHS has an extra podcast programme for you, very similar to its version of Couch to 5K (and can run alongside it for if you have the energy for that) It's called Strength and Flexibility

Hi Oilandwater , why not take a look at the Strength and Flex forum? There are lots of C25K graduates on there: healthunlocked.com/strength...

I have put together my own at-home routine that is a mixture of James Dunne's 'if I had to chose 3 exercises for runners' and Jason Fitzgerald's MACE strength routine.

I found these to be useful. I added some resistance bands to some of the exercises. these may add to your routine.
