Consolidation runs

Went to gym Monday (hoorah) but today running my legs felt too tired - did a gentle jog but wasn’t really there so to speak. Any general advice? There hasn’t been gym since I started the C25K in January so this is all new.

How your runs feel is very dependent on a whole host of factors including, but not limited to, sleep, hydration, stress (mental, emotional, physical), diet etc.

But aside from that, remind yourself that not every run can feel 'good'. If you think about the long term, say a period of the next 12 months, and you intend to run regularly in that time, then that is likely to be around another 100 or so runs based on 3 per week. Can you really expect all 100 of those runs to feel 'good'? They won't, I guarantee it. Instead, focus on embedding the habit of getting out and getting it done, 3 times a week, rather than how any 1 run actually feels. It pays off in the long term. Accept the ups and downs as part of it being an important activity in your week.

The excitement of starting and completing C25K is very real, but it is only the start of what is hopefully a long, happy, healthy and fulfilling journey for you.

Were you running outside before ? Maybe you miss the sights and sounds which help take the focus off being sore ?

Oh these are all outdoor runs the only difference has been a gym session doing strength training in between. I was simply seeking advice on whether that would have an impact.
