Sarah Millican has just coached my hubby and me in our first CouchTo5k run, but because of my hayfever and IBS we decided to do it in our house .... front room to hall to snug to hall to front room ... round sofas and coffee tables. Our poor dog Fergus didn’t know what to make of us, but I rather think he thought it was a poor excuse for an evening walk!

On Your Marks, Get Set ... GO!!!
Welcome to the forum and well done on your ingenuity. Unless you live in a palace it is unlikely to develop your body in the way running outdoors will, especially as the duration increases. Early morning is the best time to run outdoors as the pollen count is generally at its lowest level.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Luckily I suffer from tree pollen induced hayfever so it should begin to wane soon and I’ll be able to get outside. Tonight’s ‘run’ was more of an exercise in simply getting my body used to moving again after a year of hiding from COVID ... and I’m not a morning person (yet)! I’m hoping to get there. 🤞🏻
Well done on your first run! I certainly wish id ran inside i couldn't understand what was going on until i realised our farmer has planted rapeseed this year 😭😭😭😭😭
That was the stuff that first triggered my “ hay fever” 25 years ago!!! It’s got steadily worse now staring with the tree pollen ( which was earlier this year) and finishing around October. Then I used to pick up a cold from work and have sinus trouble all winter 🙄
Thankfully I’m retired and with avoiding other people for over a year all I have had is the “ hay fever” and no colds
I usually take my antihistamines at night now and my inhaler in the morning just before I run. And a dab of Vaseline round the nostrils helps with the pollen too. And of course sunnies keep it out of your eyes. Good luck when you progress to outside
It’s a lovely way to start the day.
Bravo you! Art of the possible. I redid Couch to 5K last year and the lockdown and busy pavements had me doing a couple of weeks in my house. No question it was a workout but it was very hard on the joints and I was off back to the empty woods asap.
