Hi all. I have just completed my longest run this morning and could have run for longer. The experts are right in saying "Slow Down"! I slowed my pace a little and was amazed by how much more comfortable it felt. I'm still new to this as only started C25K Jan' this year. I was like most new starters in that I found it really hard but a necessary evil! My advice to anyone who is just starting out and maybe finding it tough is KEEP GOING. It's like anything, if you're motivated enough to want change you'll do it. The hardest part is putting on your running shoes and getting out that front door. So yes, slow down and just do what your body tells you. Like Jo Whiley says "You CAN do this"! All the best...

Well done on your run - it’s amazing what we can achieve if we believe 😁 and I am sure this will spur on newer members here. Couch to 5K has been the start of so many great adventures and experiences for so many of us!😍 Good luck.🙂

Thank you Sandraj39.I didn't realise how the "mental side" of running was so prevalent. 30 odd yrs ago I could run around a football pitch for 90 mins and didn't even cross my mind! 😀

Now approaching 54 in a couple of weeks it's very different 😁

Slowing down to the recommended easy conversational pace makes it more achievable and for most, more enjoyable.

An easy conversational pace equates to approximately 75% of your maximum heart rate, which is the perfect zone to build the solid aerobic base required to run faster and further, which is why it is the pace at which elite athletes spend up to 80% of their training time.
