Hi runners. I have just completed W3R3 and am looking for some advice for W4. I am trying to work on my breathing, but just dont seem to get it. If I focus on it, my breathing seems to become shallower. If I dont focus on it, I get short of breath. I dont think I could go any slower in pace without coming to a full stop. What am I doing wrong?

Also I'm a bit daunted by W4 as it looks like a big step up from W3. Maybe need to think more flexibly about it (or add W3.5 with 4 minute runs and 2 minute walks). Or stop overthinking it and just try ;)

Don’t worry about the next runs. The previous round will prepare you. As for breathing, just breathe however you can. It’ll sort itself out over the next week or so.

As said by Tasha99...your breathing will sort itself out, give it time.. Don't to hung up on it...we all struggled in our early days of running..& I find it's an individual thing...Your body will adjust as move on in the C25k training so don't worry about the forcoming weeks..Carry on & enjoy your running. 🙂

Hello, I've just started week 4 and it is a step up, but totally achievable now that we are a bit more used to running and pacing ourselves.

Regarding breathing, something I learned to do when I start panting my way uphill on a bike. It seems to work fine for running too, so you might like to see if it suits you. Breath out through pursed lips, like you are blowing through a straw. It makes my breathing a little deeper and slower without having to think too hard about it. I hope you enjoy week 4.

Don't over think it. I've just finished week 4 and was dreading it. But once I completed the first run and realised I could do it, the other two were easier.
