Is running on the spot allowed when crossing and re crossing an A road?
I've just completed week 4. The first two runs of which were completed on a frozen sports field, this I really enjoyed, it was -3C everything was sparkling with frost and best of all for one of my runs I had the whole field(0.5km circumference ) completely to myself. Heavy overnight rain and warming temperatures made the going too soft for this old horse so I've reluctantly returned to the road. My route causes me to cross and re cross a busy road in order to stay on the pavement, hence the question. I'm lucky that a section of the Thames path and a nature reserve are on my door step but due to flooding are not yet possible. I could travel further a field but due to current restrictions this is probably inadvisable. I could also run up and down the same bit pavement or perhaps count the time spent running on the spot and add it on at the end, please advise.

If you don't run on the spot you have to run into oncoming traffic. I used to think people running in the spot waiting to cross the road were daft or even showing off. Now I know why they do it. You need to keep "moving" but you don't have to run on the spot as if it was a HIIT session!
