You are right. You should always fully complete each session before moving on. It is a training plan, not a check list exercise.
Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.
The longer runs require a different mindset and the ability to forget about time and the physicality of running, so find a distraction. Podcasts and audio books work for many or do as I did and give yourself a running commentary on everything you can see, hear, smell and feel as you run, in fully formed florid sentences.
