Morning gang. Has anyone else been stopped from going out because of the snow? I live in quite a rural area and run partly on the road and partly off road. I haven't been out since last Friday. I'm worried about losing my ability to actually run again, but also to get motivated to actually go out once the snow has melted. I'll be 66 in 2 weeks and don't feel I'm getting any better at running ☹️ I started C25K last February. This is the first time I've encountered snow. Any words of wisdom would be much appreciated

As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.
After that loss of condition is gradual.
All any of us can do after a lay off is to go out and see what we can comfortably manage, then build back up gently, using C25k or something similar as a guide to weekly increase.
Relax and make a snowman.

Hi, well we haven't had a ton of snow (south west) but it's bitterly cold. I intended to do 5k on Monday, only did 3, soo cold, went home to the warm. I know I'll feel better about going out when the temperature improves but in the meantime we'll be ok. Lots of hot choc. BTW I'm 66 and graduated June 2020. Don't you think us 'oldies' are amazing?!🏃🏃♀️💥
I do Blossom. I've always had an aversion to any exercise, due to ex husband, but that's another story. I just took it upon myself last year to give this running/shuffling malarky a go. I didn't even tell the present husband, just in case I couldn't hack it. I used to pop out while he was at work and do you know what, I found I really enjoyed it, even in the cold of last February. I do feel much better for it. My daughter's are very proud of me, I find it hard to believe it's me actually doing this and that I'll be found out 😂
I got a tip about Yaktrax from somemone on the Bridge to 10K group, something you pull over your shoes that has iron coils under it. They really bite into the snow and ice. I tried them out yesterday and they are really good for running on snow and ice. I actually ran at the same speed as I normally do, while on Monday (without the Yaktrax) I ran a bit more slowly.
The trick to running on snow and ice is (besides the Yaktrax) to run very slow and take small steps, keeping your feet close to the ground. On Monday I found I could run better than I could walk on that icy snow. Of course you have to be careful and if you're not sure enough, you better don't do it. I just wanted to go out and experience it and I looooooved it to bits!
