Hi all, I’m due to start week 3 run 1 tomorrow and I usually go out early 6.30 ish. However the weather suggests -3 or -4 in the morning. I don’t have any issue with the temperature but am concerned about slipping over. What would be the impact of leaving it for another 3 days when the temps are not sub zero? I don’t suppose as a new starter it would be that much of an issue but mentally I think I have the bug. Do many others go out running in icy conditions? Thank you all

It won't an issue whatsoever .

You're expecting an accurate weather forecast 👀 perhaps wait, take a rain check on the morning you may be ok 👍. It's ok to run if frosty, but to be safer have you somewhere to run i.e a park or maybe somewhere grassy, there's are going to be safer than running on frosty paths

Rain check good idea. There is a school field nearby I might consider it. Thanks

Momentum is useful but it is foolish to run in dangerous conditions.

As stated in the guide to the plan, healthunlocked.com/couchto5... you lose no significant condition in the first two weeks of non running.

After that loss of condition is gradual.

Thanks for the advice and the link to the guide.

If it has snowed and then gone slushy where you live I’d venture to suggest that you’d be better to wait for a few days than to risk running in the dark when the pavements have iced over. Maybe I’m a wimp - I wouldn’t run on icy pavements. I should have run today and I didn’t for precisely that reason. A fall could mean a long hiatus from running so waiting a few days doesn’t seem too high a price to pay. Good luck whether you brave it or whether you wait 😊

Thanks . I’ll check conditions in the morning and wait if they look tricky. It’s good to have thoughts from others to help reach a sensible decision
