Well done! But don't stress you body in trying to get quicker, snails enjoy their runs too (says the snail herself). As long as you don't plan on becoming Usain Bolt, pace is not thΓ‘t important. Most important is to avoid injuries and to enjoy your runs. πŸ˜€

That’s brilliant jwillmac, Go you indeed πŸ˜€, I agree with Hidden enjoying your runs comes first, and staying injury free, After a year of running I’ve not run a 5k any quicker than just after my graduation but I’ve run a few 10k’s now and a bit further and loving it πŸ€—

There are two 5k runs on the Nike Run Club app, which are really good, I’ve used those a few times πŸ‘πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Or maybe just run further. Ju Ju's Magic Plan has a programme to get you to running 60 minutes. I am going for distance as I doubt I will get ever be a sprinter. You can include some speed interval training on this programme.

Congratulations Jwillmac. It's extra special when you find an ability to run later in life and more so when there are health issues. Slow really does seem to be the tried and tested way to progress and now you have the proof! I often felt I was plodding too on consolidation runs, but I notice nowadays there is more lightness of step and increased distance too.Looking forward to hearing of your continued progress, meanwhile carry on and enjoy your new found running ability.

Best wishes ☺️
