I've stayed on W1 for 3 weeks, I've just downloaded W2R1 but there's no music! I loved the music in W1! Do I need to download my own music?

Seeing as you downloaded the individual weeks I can only assume that you are using the podcasts. When I first did C25K each week's podcast had music (of dubious quality) and I was not aware of that changing over the years. To add your own music to the podcast you would have to run another music app concurrently and it would not dip the music to enable you to hear the trainer.

The app does not have music but enables you to play your own music alongside and drops the music volume when the trainer talks.

Hi there IamNew whilst completing couch to 5 k I generally used the BBC sounds app, it's free it works well alongside the chat of your mentor, perhaps give it a try?

Hi IMc50 I am trying to catch up with all this technology. I went on the BBC Sounds app, and under the "Download Audio" heading it states " Listen to podcasts, programme and music mixes when you're on the go or not connected to the internet by downloading". Does that mean that when out running it is using your data allowance? And is the C25K also using data? will i run out of data?? Will i run out of room on android phone by downloading podcasts etc. I am trying very hard to understand 🤔

Ok so if you've downloaded the podcast etc from let's say bbc sounds, you'll not be using data when you run, as you'll probably have downloaded it over your home wifi ?

I'm pretty certain with Couch to 5 k it's all downloaded and also it's not using roaming data, luckily of I'm not spot on with this

roseabi is a lot more switched on to technology than I am 🙃!!

As for the storage on your phone that I'm afraid is something only you'll know... But small podcasts won't use too much

Hope it helps a bit

Ian

With the BBC Sounds app, there is the option to download BBC podcasts to your phone, so you won't use up any data listening to it on the go. Once you have finished with a BBC podcast you can delete it from your phone via the app, so you don't need to worry about running out of storage space on your phone.

Thanks Roseabi. Do you have to have BBC sounds app on the computer first, download it , then listen on the phone, or do you have the app on the phone ?

App on the phone would be simplest

Hi IamNew!

I wonder if you have accidentally downloaded the C25K app? As Iannodatruffe says, the app doesn't have any music in it.

I suggest you try returning to the NHS C25K webpage and downloading W2 again to your phone: nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/c...

Thank you roseabi, and I must have done that I imagine, although I don't really understand the technology here and the difference between an app and a podcast - oh dear. I will do as you suggest and use the link you've kindly given me, thank you!

An app is a programme, such as the NHS C25K app, which is interactive and only used on a smartphone. A podcast is just a sound file, like a music file, and it can be played on a smartphone or MP3 player, but is not interactive.

Got it! Thank you! Will try to remember those basic tenets and know the difference. That's the trouble when you're a bit older and haven't grown up with computers!! Every day there is something to be learnt with technology and I'm doing my best to keep up. Thank you again.
