Comeback Runs: Number 34 and 35

So, after losing my way a little bit and I think it was mainly due to the prohibitive long dark nights/late sunrises/my back in spasm/Christmas and finally lack of motivation and a teeny bit of fear/loss of confidence with running, I have hopefully broken through the barriers and have certainly got myself back out there. All together, if I am being completely honest, there was 1 month with no running and in the 4 weeks before that, I only ran 2 twice.

You may have seen my previous post where I was saying I didn't where to start again... after readingal the advice, I put the C25K app back on and re-ran week 5 run 1. It was what I hoped I would be still able to do and the main point was to try something and avoid getting injured.

I managed around 22 minutes, non stop!!! Although my gremlins made an appearance at around 12 minutes!! Their whispering of "stop now" was firmly ignored as I ploughed on.

And it did feel like ploughing or wading through treacle!! My leg started to cramp (the tops of my right calf) when I slowed to a walk... and my legs did not feel like my own.

I repeated the same run today but was slightly faster. I said to myself I probs need to slow down, to be able to extend the time, but actually, I think I need to stop worrying about that at this stage and just get 3 runs in this week!! 🀭🀭

Anyways, I'm glad I've done it. My mood is lifting again too!

For anyone in the same boat as me, just do something.... the bug πŸ› is sure to come back.

So happy to know that you are back running Plattszo, it's winter and "fun runners" tend not to run as long or as far when the temperature is cold, however, you got up and had a few nice short runs, well done, I think your friend TT60 is also having a short break from running as well, but like you she will be back soon, keep warm. 😊 πŸƒπŸΎ

Aaw, thanks! πŸ’• We’re part of a running family, you’d do the same for me! Just glad you’re back. I lost a bit of motivation over Christmas, sometimes other things get in the way. Fact of life xx

Loving the hashtag!!!

I can't say it's been easy and might take a couple of weeks to get back to 30 minutes but still making progress by doing something!

Thanks for your support too.

Hope you are ok πŸ€—

Great to see you back again. πŸ‘

Hoping the weather will let me out tomorrow. Weather, a cable broadband outage, and work stuff stopped me today.

These things are sent to try us, so "they" say.

You will do it... it looks like a nice day dawning.

Well done Zoe it is really hard with all the dark nights, weather etc. So glad you are back. I am feeling the same as you were - the motivation is just not there due to cold, damp wind etc etc. I’m looking to get a treadmill so can get some consistency. xx

Hi Angie. The longer days are coming... if you have any flexibility in work, could you squeeze a quick 20 minutes in? The darkness falls usually 20 minutes after the bbc weather sunset time...

My husband bought exercise bike, bench, weights, all now gathering dust 😁😁

Well done getting back out there! I had the same in November/December but from Boxing Day on have been getting out 2/3 times a week. Did the same with Wk5R1 and am now back to regular 25 mins. Mixing up with one interval run a week - I did Wk1R1 with the intention of running fast (for me) on the run and slow running (my normal pace) on the walks but couldn’t keep up all the slow running - had to walk on occasion to recover. But it was good to try something different. Going for a 25 min run today in 15 mins time (warming up rn).

So pleased to see you posting again! πŸ‘πŸ½

You are not alone! I've only managed two runs this month, mainly because of freezing temperatures/snow/ice/rain etc. After a while you get out of a routine and that is the hard part, getting back into it again. We will get back into it! Just waiting for the weather :)
