The comeback run

Hello peeps,

Well after what seemed like eternity (3 months and a bit) I'm finally off the IC and today went for my first run.

Played safe and chose a route that I had used in approx week 5-6 of the program, knowing the timing splits etc helped me gauge what I was doing. I had mentally prepared myself of a fitness level between week 3-4 after being out for so long with no excercise in between not even cycling :-( . Over the moon was I, when I managed to run around 3K'ish without any problems. :-) :-)

No ground breaking times today, just happy that I managed to get out there and run (who cares about the weather!!) after such a long time. I'll probably keep to this distance for about a week or so and then start increasing gradually.

Without a doubt really happy to be back on the road and posting on here.

How's everyone doing? Hope you are all well and your training is going well.

Embrace the pain as how well you've done like a war wound

Welcome back! Great determination. I followed your progress with great interest last year at about this time as you were ahead of me in the programme. You were really speedy - and I'm sure you'll get back there again!

Thank you. How is your running going? I've set a few goals for myself now and hopefully will be back to speed very soon.

Welcome back Saul. I don't think it will take you long to get back to where you were, if the weather doesn't get in the way! I bought some shoe spikes and had the best run ever yesterday morning. Something woke me up at 4a.m. and I gave up trying to get back to sleep, went to my frozen park and ran on packed ice. Not a soul out, just me and some bemused bunnies watching me as I crunched along. Turned out to be a fabulous run but wasn't up to much the rest of the day. I actually saw two rabbits popcorning. I didn't even know they did this: jumping vertically about a metre high as if they were on a trampoline. Don't know what got them so excited but to me it looked as if they were just happy ☺

👍Wow that sounds like a cool run. Our park is locked away out of harms way.

With the shoe spikes must have sounded like a mini army.

Haha they're great actually. You can run safely on ice as easily as on dry land but they're not your best bet for stealth activities!

Good to see you back Saul, sounds like you have things in hand. I've been on and off the IC too but now progressing well towards a 10 miler end of Feb, got my first 10k run this weekend! Onwards and upwards

I do hope so. Been keeping up with your posts, well done getting this far. Was hoping to be at the same stage as you by now.

Good luck for the weekend.

Welcome back Saul and happy that you are out running and off the ic. Your plan to build up slowly is perfect, and I think you will be back to where you were before too long...

I had a month on the ic at xmas and found I need to do a few more 30 min runs before I can start building up distance again. Stamina building.

Good luck and keep posting your progress.😊
