Have had an enjoyable running week just carrying on with 30 minute comfortable pace run x 3. I thought I'd make things more interesting by starting to record my runs on strava as well as on my fitbit which I'm using for timing. The interesting thing is that Strava records my distance as much further than my fitbit and as a result I've been going faster even though I haven't π. I think I'll be taking Strava times from now on.
I've been trying out a different route on each run as well so I've got a variety to choose from now.
I've finally realised why people like sports watches with huge screens as I'm finding it really hard to read the time on my tiny fitbit screen while I'm running - I think having a big display would make life so much easier.
Next week I'll be carrying on with the same plan - trying out new routes and soundtracks.

Consolidation is fun, have you joined in with the consolidation club? Strava always make me a little faster than my garmin but both usually similar distance
Hi, it is. I've been reading the consolidation club posts yes. I love the support on here - I'm quite sure that I wouldn't still be running if it weren't for this group.
Yes. I find myself on walks looking at inclines and puddles and slippy leaves and of course the dodgy raised paving slabs, thinking, I could add this too a running route!
Yes, good start, maybe over confident as today's was tougher but I still feel good that I kept going to the end. I think I tired myself out yesterday with strength and flexibility training.
Sounds like youβre doing great @zip54 π, enjoy the new routes. X
As for Strava vs the watch, I have a Garmin VivoActive 4S (I wear it all the time - it's my regular watch) and I do trust the watch more than I do Strava. I am no longer on Strava, I have enough with the info my watch gives me. I don't really pay attention to that info, I just like to see (after my run) what distance I ran, how many calories I burned, what heart rate zones I was running in and how my cadence was. I don't do anything with that info, I just like to see it.
I know what you mean about liking to see the information. I'm an information geek and I love all the gadgets and tools we have available. Again I don't do anything with the information. I don't care if I'm faster or slower or went further but I am interested in how a run felt vs what the stats show. For example today's run felt really hard I was desperate for it to end and the stats show I was slower than previous runs so I guess I'm responding to how my body feels and taking appropriate action - if it's hard slow down.
That sounds exactly like me, I like to see the stats and see eg. where I was slow and where I was faster and compare it to how I felt on those parts of the run. I like to think it makes me smarter for the future in order to anticipate.
Well done Zip54, itβs great to see your progress! Same here, trying different routes, which makes it a lot more interesting π. Happy running ππ».
