Any advice on running in the rain?
Gear to wear/buy?
It's inevitable I'll have to run in the rain in the UK... Best to prepare myself in the best way possible! I am a rain avoider but do not want to stop running because of it...
Thanks in advance 😌

I'm no expert but have run in the rain and snow a fair few times now. I have a very light waterproof jacket over a tshirt - it's actually a cycling rain mac - which basically keeps me warm and dry for the warmup but then I find I sweat so much that I'm wet inside anyway at the end of the run. I just wear normal leggings and normal trainers and accept that my feet will get wet. The key thing is to dry out my trainers between runs by packing them with newspaper.
Light waterproof jacket if it’s really heavy rain. Otherwise, embrace getting wet, especially when it’s above about 6-8 degrees.
I have a light rainjacket, but as Zip54 says, I sweat because of the rainjacket, ending up maybe even as wet as without the rainjacket. When it is a very mild rain, I just go without the jacket. That is in mild weather (above 0 C°). Don't know yet what I'll do when it's freezing and raining. Then again, that might be called sleet / snow and then I don't need a jacket either. Something I do have that I love, are waterproof socks from Sealskinz. If I have to plod through a deep puddle, my feet do feel the cold of the water, but they don't get wet. Very nice!
Thanks guys - guess I'll just get wet!
The sealskinz socks sound like a great buy though!
I have to wear my glasses to run, so I wear a waterproof hat to shield them! Not a great look, but it works!
I bought a super bright super light waterproof neon yellow New Balance jacket from Sports Shoes. I think it was around £40 in the sale. Love it.
