Week 9 Finished

I completed c25K today and I feel so proud of myself, from week 1 when I could hardly jog for 60 seconds to now in itself is a miracle, I heard Zoe Ball talking about the challenge on her breakfast show and thought I would like to give that a go. I’ve been very disciplined, out in all weather and even doing a run on Boxing Day I’ve totally amazed myself I never ever thought I could do it. There were times where I really struggled but I dug in deep and carried on, i have lost some weight and feel much healthier, so if you undecided give it a go you have nothing to lose and the feeling that you get at the end is fantastic

Hi, I've never got past the first day, i was embarrassed at how unfit I was and felt like people where watching me looking like I was going to pass out, honestly does it get easier? Thanks and we'll done x

in reply to Lea79

So where to start @Lea79 we've all got different fitness levels, you needn't be embarrassed! Those people looking at you? They're definitely envious you got off the couch and are running 👍.

Regarding that passing out feeling, are you maybe running too fast, you're definitely not alone it's common factor in new (and old ) runner's!

Slow it down, like really slow, of you feel you've got a Burst of speed left at the end great, go a little quicker.....

But don't look at how others are doing, you're doing this for you 💪

Have a read of the below plan, link attached it's going to give you all that great advice on stretching, hydration and lots more..

I completely understand where you are coming from, I felt embarrassed of my wobbly bits and so unfit, to start off I would go out when it was dark or really early in the morning, also what helped was planning when I was next going to run, it’s not easy but when you start to see yourself improve it gives you confidence to carry on, I found a park nearby where I could do the longer runs and no one looks at you as your confidence grows you feel less self conscious, give it a go it’s such a great feeling and a life and health changer I feel better than I have done in years and I’m in my late 50s x

Congratulations S444, it’s a great achievement, well done 👏🏻👏🏻🏅🥳🥳

Consolidation runs next, try the Nike Run Club App, it’s ideal for those and it’s free too 👍

Well done! I'm on week two and my body already feels stronger... it's been a tough couple of years for me so I'm just glad I've finally got moving. It's reassuring to know others who also struggled for the first 60 seconds have managed to complete the 9 weeks. Congratulations!! Do you think you will continue?

I’ve thought about this and I really think I will, I already miss the structure of following the app, one tip just take each week as it comes, I never looked at what the next week had in store, don’t be put off by the change from more walking to more running just go with it and if you struggle repeat the week before until you feel comfortable to go to the next level, in the beginning I kept thinking there is no way I will ever do this but slowly but surely you get there, I also didn’t tell anyone I was doing it so no pressure of anyone asking how’s it going, it was my little secret, sounds strange but it worked for me.

Yes, completely understand that last point. I'm the same. :) thanks for the tips and encouragement
