Newbie and looking for advice?

Hi

I’m a complete newbie and wanted to get fit. I’m 5ft, a little overweight and slowly careering towards the big 50!

Started WK1 on Mon and was only able to complete Run 3. On Wed, I got to Run 5 and on Saturday managed to complete all 8 runs. Do I now go on to WK2 or should I stick with WK1 and do this 2 more times first?

Thanks in advance for any advice😘

Welcome to the forum and C25K, well done on starting run 1 of week 1, you can repeat any runs or week's if you wish to until you are satisfied with your progress, take all the runs slowly, no running on consecutive days as that could cause a injury, drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration, onwards and upwards 🏃🏾.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

You need to fully complete each workout session before moving onto the next one.

You need to be able to speak clear ungasping sentences as you run.......if you cannot, you are going too fast.

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.

Enjoy your journey.

Hi and well done for starting C25K.

I redone a few weeks on the way. The key to c25k is to slow down and take your time, It's not a race and everyone has to go at their own pace that is comfortable for them.

Good Shoes and Music helped me through it. If you can listen to some good Music and forget about the aches and pains of trying to run and focus of something else it helps.

Stick with it and you'll be so proud of yourself at the end 🙂

Thank you, your right, slowing down is the key as when I look back, I was practically sprinting on the runs when I first started, I couldn’t talk either as so out of breath which is probably the reason I was unable to complete the whole 8 reps, the first and second time. Will pace myself in future

Look everyone it's Sweetdreamer5790 " the runner" 9 weeks time that's you 👍.

You've had plenty of great advice on the replies, so it's over to you now 👍🙂.

All you have to do, is quite simply put one foot in front of the other 🙃. Don't be worrying about speed, don't be overthinking it and remember it's not a race!

Go out there enjoy every run if you have a stinker so what, we've all had that bad run, let it go recycle it, the next will be better.

Be kind to yourself ⭐
