I've enjoyed reading other people's little run reports so I thought I'd write one. I ended up doing a couple extra runs in Week 7; one run I stopped for a while in the middle to give someone first aid, another got cut short by being on-call for work and having to stop and turn around early, so by the end of Week 7 I got confident enough to pick up the pace a bit more, finding myself much more sure of my ability to run for 25 mins and happily speeding up for a sprint at the end at Laura's suggestion.
I had also been mixing up my routes - overnight it absolutely chucked it down with rain, so I set off along side roads to a park with a decent tarmac track around. The sun is bright and shining but the middle of the park had become a huge lake full of gulls.... and when I got half way around the path at the perimeter I found myself needing to forge through some very soggy grass. I foolishly braved it and found myself ankle-deep in mud just as the half-way mark sound rang, and jogged on with a steady squelching pace...
Still, very glad to have had this routine in my life! Even coming home very soggy it feels great to have had a reason to be out in the sun and active. I was a bit worried I'd find the longer runs boring without company, but I can really feel the progress I'm making with pacing and stamina, and it is exciting to realise I can try out some longer routes. Very happy to have stuck with the programme and gotten to Week 8.
