W8R1 - sunshine and mud

I've enjoyed reading other people's little run reports so I thought I'd write one. I ended up doing a couple extra runs in Week 7; one run I stopped for a while in the middle to give someone first aid, another got cut short by being on-call for work and having to stop and turn around early, so by the end of Week 7 I got confident enough to pick up the pace a bit more, finding myself much more sure of my ability to run for 25 mins and happily speeding up for a sprint at the end at Laura's suggestion.

I had also been mixing up my routes - overnight it absolutely chucked it down with rain, so I set off along side roads to a park with a decent tarmac track around. The sun is bright and shining but the middle of the park had become a huge lake full of gulls.... and when I got half way around the path at the perimeter I found myself needing to forge through some very soggy grass. I foolishly braved it and found myself ankle-deep in mud just as the half-way mark sound rang, and jogged on with a steady squelching pace...

Still, very glad to have had this routine in my life! Even coming home very soggy it feels great to have had a reason to be out in the sun and active. I was a bit worried I'd find the longer runs boring without company, but I can really feel the progress I'm making with pacing and stamina, and it is exciting to realise I can try out some longer routes. Very happy to have stuck with the programme and gotten to Week 8.

Oh brilliant, whilst I was completing my C25k I used a couple perhaps 3 routes, so I was able to see my progress on where I was getting to as that 1/2 time ping went off, so I'd turn around allowing a warm down before I got home ✅. But after graduation, ohhhhh the enjoyment over wandering further and running new loops it's so good. The things we don't observe from a car, it's so much more involving being out there running and exploring.....

Well done ennkaybea ennkaybea the squelching feeling isn't pleasant in the first step but the feeling soon passes doesn't it? Good luck with your upcoming runs and Happy holidays.
