I stupidly thought this run was going to be easy.... after-all w9r1 was a walk in the park. I went out thinking that the last 2 runs would just be as simple. After all, I had jo in my ear telling me after getting this far, I can “call myself a runner”
After having 2 days off I tried w9r2 this morning and I failed miserably. After about 5 mins of really slow jogging my legs felt like led. I managed for another 10 minutes, and despite slowing down so much I doubt you could class it as running anymore, I had to stop. I’m gutted. I really hope Fridays run is easier. Or I may even try again tomorrow. I’m so desperate to graduate.

Next time out, you will do it! Keep the faith! 🏃💪🏻😊
HattieCooke firstly promise not to rush, definitely no running tomorrow please,,,, REST !
That 3rd run, ok slowly, start as you mean to go on, if you feel able then increase the speed as you settle into the run, better to have some left in the tank than to empty it before you've finished 👍.... You've got this 💪 we know you have !! Good luck
Everything going on in our lives can impact on our performance as a runner. Restedness, hydration and nutrition are at the top of my list of variables that need to be optimised to enable enjoyable running.
Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.
Yep, some runs go fine, others are a real struggle. Not sure that it applies here but I sometimes find that I can be over confident, go out too fast then struggle towards the end.
I suggest taking tomorrow off as planned then having another go on Friday. You've done W9R1 so you know you can do it. I've sometimes gone out thinking that the run is going to be "easy" and then come unstuck. A better mindset seems to be "I can do this" but remembering that every run has to be respected (does that make sense)?
Hey, no, we don’t use that F word here! You only fail if you permanently head back to that couch. It was a practice, to remind you to be well hydrated and to take it steady. Now you’ve practised. Have your rest day, drink plenty, and go for the real thing! Get into the right mindset before you start. You can do it, because you already have! 👏👏👏👍
We don't use that word here. It's just another practice run.
There are good days and bad days, and there are days when a run doesn't feel right or something feels "off" in your body. The important thing is that you did go out there and try.
Oh how frustrating 😡. We all have those sort of runs and for very random reasons that we may not be able to identify 🤷🏻♀️ Next time go slowly and stay well within your capabilities. It’s taken me 6 months to learn this 🤦🏻♀️. You will do it. I’ll be looking out for your graduation post 🤗
I know how you feel. I've only stopped once and think it was on w4, either way, you learn and you carry on. As others have said just slow right down, especially at first. Read the pinned post on the toxic ten, helps to understand what's going on in your body. And remember any run is more miles in the legs, more experience and more confidence. You've got this HC 👏
Practice run, next one will be fine, we all have runs like that one, it’s part of the learning process not to reflect on them, dust yourself off and you’ll smash it next time 💪🏻🏃♀️
