Started c25k in mid October. Starting week 7 tomorrow.

Would have been out today only for cold was minus 3 first thing.

Female. Normally wear leggings and a thin vest plus thermal long sleeved top, and a rain/wind proof jacket.

Thanks in advance.

It's so difficult as I get so hot so quickly so I can't wear too many layers so I'm freezing when I first venture out of the door. I just wear a couple of t shirts and roll up sleeves as I go along. Seeing people run in jackets and hats and I'm like 🥵

My own preference as a guy is not to get cold on the warm up/cool down sections. The trick is to have layers which can be removed or replaced as necessary.

Oddly, I tend to sweat most on my back at the moment.

As the thatch is thinning, I can lose a lot of heat through my head. I usually go out in beanie hat that I can pocket if necessary.

As a rule of thumb, dress as though it’s 10 degrees hotter than it is - there is a chart guide thing that I’m sure some one more clever than me could attach.

For me, when it is 6 degrees or below, I wear a tight fitting long sleeve undershirt, with a normal t-shirt over the top, long leggings- I’ve got some nice winter ones that have a fleece lining. I must say this year, I’ve only just gone from shorts to leggings.

Then I use buff’s around my head and neck, easy to take off if/when I get hot. I have gloves too, but it has to be very cold for me to use them, I do get hot and hate having to carry anything, so anything I use has to be easily stashed, tied around my waist/wrist or attached to my belt....

The only time I’ve kept hat and gloves on for the whole of a run was when it was minus 3 with a further minus 3 windchill ( when the beast from the east came a visiting 🥶)

I've see lots of references to buffs but have no idea what they are! Please could someone explain?

Ive just googled it and it seems to be a neck and head sock. Looks like a good idea for running. Thanks fro mentioning. Could cover most of face until warmed up.

It's one of those cloth tubes which can be worn as a hat, scarf, mask etc. There is loads of ways to tie them and can sometimes be bought in Lidl or aldi, otherwise most sports shops or amazon. I have some with a fleece band from decathlon for when it is really cold. I can have one round my neck and one on my head.

I love buff’s, they’re great, so easy to use, I have quite a few, I don’t do hats very much and do get a really hot head (I am ‘fortunate’ to have very thick hair 😏) so I find the buff perfect to give my ears a little cover..... Mx

NO COTTON. That can be dangerous. When really cold 3 or 4 top layers. You should warmup after about 1 km.

Also, you heat up 5degrees. So if it feels like zero it will feel like 5 when you warmupm
